Where did Unearthed Photography Begin?
I received my first camera in high school and was instantly swept away by documenting life around me. I was particularly drawn to photographing life in other cultures and especially on my trips to Mexico. After getting married and graduating with my nursing degree from the University of Oklahoma, we moved out west to Pasadena, CA. That is where I really began to learn more and more about the art of photography. After about 6 years as a full time pediatric intensive care nurse, I decided to make a complete change in my profession to be able to stay home with my then one year old son. Since then I have had a little girl and have moved to Texas. Photography is still more than just a job to me and I am so amazed for this passion to become a career. I am seriously living the dream.
What is your style?
If I could sum up in one word what my style and heart behind every wedding or session is, it would be: Stories
I believe (so much) in the power of our stories. I feel that each of us has some type of story that we are telling each and every day in our lives and our stories must be told. My goal in all situations, is to tell that story. If its a wedding day, a day in the life session, a maternity session, or a special project, I will be telling your story. The posed, the unposed, the unexpected, the planned, the details, because that is real life. And those are the stories worth telling. I love shooting in natural light at natural locations.
A few things about me:
~ I love me some Jesus.
~I am an old married woman of 11 years to the coolest and craziest Sooner fan I know.
~After years of infertility, we are humbled that the Lord saw it fit to give us two kiddos that make me a little crazy, but that I love in the biggest way I’ve ever loved.
~Before coffee was a cool graphic T, I loved it. Yes, I will meet you for coffee, anytime!
~I love sewing dresses for my little girl
~I’m always crafting something. Right now I’ve got an over supply of embroidery hoops laying around the house that I’m dying to fill. I know my husband loves this about me, lol!
~Adventures overseas with my hubby are my favorite. Documenting these trips is something I am planning to do alot more in the years to come. Stay tuned for that…!
